What Do Charter Schools Offer?
Having received nearly 700 applications for admission to Quest Charter Academy, the Peoria Charter School Initiative (PCSI) will hold a public lottery to select students for enrollment in the charter school’s fifth, sixth and seventh grades.
The lottery will be held Thursday, May 13 at 4 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center in Room 220-222. The public is invited to attend.
Quest Charter Academy will begin classes August 24 offering grades 5-7. Each grade will have three classes, with 25 students in each class. PCSI received 301 applications for fifth grade, 230 applications for sixth grade and 140 for seventh grade. Since the number of applications exceeded the 75 seats available for each grade level, Illinois Charter Law requires that a public lottery be held to ensure random selection of students for enrollment in the school.
PCSI’s lottery process will include drawing 75 students for each grade level, with an additional 30 names drawn for each class that will be placed on a waiting list.
Notification letters will be sent to all applicants informing them of their status during the week of May 17th.
